Chairperson's Note

Radhika Bharat Ram

With immense pride and joy, I announce the 23rd USHA National Athletics Championship for the Blind, which will be held from 13th to 16th December 2024, in the vibrant city of Nadiad, Gujarat.

The Indian Blind Sports Association is organizing this prestigious event in collaboration with the Para Sports Association of Gujarat, and we are honored to welcome athletes from across the country.

This year’s Championship is especially significant as it marks a historic shift in its organization. For the first time, the event will feature participation from entire states rather than affiliates, ensuring a more inclusive and equitable opportunity for all. This change reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting fairness and expanding the reach of blind sports in India. The selection trials for the 20 state bodies are currently underway, to identify the best athletes for the championship.

The event will feature a range of traditional track and field events, providing a platform for athletes aged 19 and above to compete in both men’s and women’s open categories. We are excited to invite participation from visually impaired athletes (T-11 & F-11) and those with low vision (T-12, T-13 & F-12, F-13) from all states.

The 23rd National Athletics Championship for the Blind promises to be a celebration of not just athletic prowess but also the resilience and perseverance of our participants.

We strongly encourage you to motivate your athletes to participate in this important event. We also look forward to seeing you there, and supporting our athletes as they make history!
